Rest & reciprocity
for land, horses, & people
in New Haven County, CT
The Vision
Founded by mental health professionals, Stable Grounds Sanctuary is creating space for reciprocity and mutual healing across all living species.
While many conventional equine husbandry and land management practices unknowingly reproduce patterns of harm, Stable Grounds aims to engage in a reparative process that recognizes the systemic traumas that go down to our (literal) roots.
Stable Grounds Sanctuary is an invitation for intentional space-building, and restoring our relationship with the land, animals, and one another.

We are seeking…
Land owners who would like to see their land stewarded as part of healing for humans and horses (and maybe a few other critters—we all know how that goes), who share our values of land justice, social justice, and equine welfare.
To rent or lease a farm that has a house, a barn, paddocks. 5+ acres, and maximum 20 minutes from New Haven.
An indoor arena would be magical, though not required.
We are also seeking board members with diverse lived experiences (you do not have to have experience with horses).
What we offer…
Care for the land, including soil restoration, "rewilding,” & planting native plant species that horses like to forage.
Barn and land management. We are willing to consider care and management of horses that may already live there, as well as partnering to improve structures on a property, if needed.
Community-building programming
Support from our board members who are experienced horse people committed to ongoing growth and learning about science-based equine care and management practices.
Can’t offer land, but still want to be a part?
